Verity Slater (Arts Council) posted a Facebook link at the weekend to Thisissand, (read ‘this is sand’) a fab new web game supported by a Finnish company. Be warned – it’s very addictive. By moving around your mouse button and playing with various letter combinations you can construct really beautiful pictures.
The game (launched in summer 2008 ) was designed and built by Johanna Lundberg, Jena Sutela and Flash supremo Timo Koro. Get the inside story from the makers themselves – http://thisissand.wordpress.com/.
Check out the gallery section for clues as to how other people have worked/played. It takes a while to work out strategies for using geometry/texture/colour, but once you’ve mastered that, the game takes over.
Of course – you need a broadband connection, and I’m not sure how accessible the game is, but this is a corker. It might be best to try it from home rather than the office…
(and I’m going to ban myself from the site for the rest of the day)

interesting, thanks
